The first release of Slackware to have support for PCI and PCCard wireless network cards was 10.0. The script /etc/rc.d/rc.wireless was added. It takes care of configuring the wireless parameters for a network interface. This script does not run independently (although the original version of Slackware 10.0 would not complain if you did).
