I had the same problem for a while, it turned out that when I hit "Log Out" it was signing me out of my gmail but was not signing out of the browser synchronization. After enough times, an option finally showed up to log in as a different user. I didn't look up "Add an account" or I would have had a simpler solution a lot faster.
